Sockso

Just came across the Sockso Personal Music Server project. Here’s instructions on how to get it going…

Download the latest version from their website.

Extract the file and run linux.sh from the sockso folder (you may need to make it executable first).

This starts up the sockso program and also a webserver at http://localhost:4444/

In the main window go to the Collection tab and you can start adding music folders.

After you’ve loaded your music collection you can start adding playlists.

People navigating to your new music server can then starting playing the music in the Sockso flash music player or by  the many other options available including m3u playlists which can be used to play the music from iTunes or WMP. It can also autogenerate html to embed the flash player in your blog!
