As a result I haven’t been able been able to work as much on the volunteer based projects I’ve involved in such as BlenderArt, the Blender Challenges (www.blenderchallenge.com), the Entertainer Media Center etc. I’m hoping that once I’ve settled into a routine at Warwick I’ll be able to fit those back into my schedule.

My first day at Warwick was yesterday and it went well. I sorted out Computer Logins, got my Eee on the network, joined the gym and the climbing club (the indoor climbing area is impressive!), worked out where the important buildings are and continued the work I’ve been doing on a CAF + LAG player.

I still have some things todo, such as getting an annual pass for the car park, which I have to do today. I’ve got some more music recorded as well which I’ll be uploading to this blog and last.fm sometime soon.

First there’s Moon River, very short clip.

Then there’s a couple of instrumental peices of some Christian songs I’ve written. The idea is to get a rough idea of the music down so I can record them with a friend in 2009. Here they are:

Download the latest version from their website.

Extract the file and run linux.sh from the sockso folder (you may need to make it executable first).

This starts up the sockso program and also a webserver at http://localhost:4444/

In the main window go to the Collection tab and you can start adding music folders.

After you’ve loaded your music collection you can start adding playlists.

People navigating to your new music server can then starting playing the music in the Sockso flash music player or by  the many other options available including m3u playlists which can be used to play the music from iTunes or WMP. It can also autogenerate html to embed the flash player in your blog!

I’ve been helping set up a music website/blog for a friend of mine.

After uploading all the music over at last.fm where you can listen to the tracks, we took a while finding a simple way to sell the music on the site.

The main requirements were for an easy way to sell downloadable products and accept paypal payments.

We finally came up with a plugin for wordpress called e-commerce which works well, and we used that to create the shop.
